In December 2007, IDC recognized PricewaterhouseCoopers as the #1 business consulting provider in the world and the #3 provider in the United States. In its report, titled
Worldwide and US Business Consulting 2006 Vendor Shares: IDC’s Top 10 Vendors, IDC points out that "Number 1 PwC relies on a well-balanced set of offerings and good geographic coverage of the world market."
In a separate report, IDC ranked PricewaterhouseCoopers as one of the top 10 IT consulting vendors in 2006. In the report, titled
Worldwide and US IT Consulting 2006 Vendor Shares: IDC’s Top 10 Vendors for 2006, IDC writes that "five years after the selling of its consulting business to IBM, PwC managed to remain in the top 10."
The report notes that "PwC was allowed to deliver transformation projects to big clients at department or business unit levels and kept total freedom for delivering global transformation projects to the finance function across industries. This became an excellent incentive for the firm to develop in-depth expertise in the finance function and to take advantage of opportunities developing in emergent countries."
