Getting started: Launch your career in today’s business world.
Embarking on a new career can be one of the most exciting times in your life. As you begin to design your career, you are building on the personal motivation and academic achievement you have already attained. The right internship can help you take the next critical step in shaping a successful and rewarding career.
Choosing the firm and internship program that is right for you takes careful consideration. You need to get to know the firm and its culture. And the Firm needs to get to know you. That interaction may start as early as high school through programs such as Junior Achievement and the Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP). Alternatively, you may first meet PwC as a freshman or sophomore through programs like xTREME , eXceed, and the PwC Leadership Adventure. These programs provide both PwC and you the opportunities needed to develop a relationship built upon a full understanding of one another. Doing so establishes a solid foundation for making that critical career setting internship decision.
At PwC, we place enormous importance on our internship program since interns represent a significant source of talent for our firm. We are one of the largest employers in the country and, as you might imagine, we hire a large number of interns, approximately 2,800, most of whom go on to full-time employment with us. That’s why we are continually asking our interns — current and former — for their input on the internship program and how we can improve upon it.
Accepting an offer for employment as a PwC intern marks the beginning of your On-Boarding experience — your journey with us from an inside perspective. You will be invited to explore PwC Inside*, our New Joiner portal as well as given access to our Shared Services Center — all before your first day. Once you begin your internship, you will receive ongoing guidance from your assigned manager mentor — a more experienced member of the PwC team — who will help you develop and your peer mentor — an associate or recent college graduate- who will assist you in acclimating to the Firm. These are just some of the resources we have in place to ensure that you are connected, engaged and prepared to begin your career with us.
The first 1-2 weeks of your internship will be dedicated to comprehensive training. You will attend a local market orientation course designed to help you become familiar with the people, clients and procedures of the Firm as well as provide you with an understanding of the Firm’s culture, behaviors and values. You will also participate in technical and line of service training that is geared to bridge the gap between your academic education and your initial assignments and responsibilities as an intern. Through case studies, practice exercises, communications modules and technology-enabled study, you will learn to identify and solve common problems in business transactions.
At the end of this training program, you will be equipped to join a client engagement team as a contributing member. And, you will have begun building a network that will help you for the rest of your career.
The PricewaterhouseCoopers culture:
Join the leader
At PwC, you will be a valued member of your team — a team that embraces diversity and values individual creativity. Your unique personality, skills and ambitions will be respected. Each member of the team contributes talents and abilities that enable us to achieve business goals that stretch beyond what any individual could hope to accomplish alone. PricewaterhouseCoopers has an open culture, where each intern will have daily access to people in all stages of their careers. You’ll work with people who really listen and care about you as a professional and as a person.
Joining PricewaterhouseCoopers means:
Exciting career options
You’ll have extensive support and guidance to help you design a career where you can thrive. In a firm as varied as PwC, there are many career options to pursue.
A life beyond work
We believe that people are more productive at work when they have the flexibility to successfully manage their lives outside of work. That’s why we are committed to creating a flexible work environment where we can respond to the demands of a client service business while providing our partners and staff with the control and influence over their own quality of life. Some of this flexibility comes in the form of programs and policies, but much of it is just built into the culture of our organization. And as you will read in this Fall’s issue of LookHere, our focus on Teaming enables our people to gain exposure to a variety of projects, balance workloads and foster relationships with both client service teams and our clients.
A place where you can be yourself
At PwC, we understand that the best solutions emerge from the mosaic of backgrounds and experiences of our professionals. Only by bringing your entire self to the workplace can we benefit from your individual and unique perspective. To ensure the richness of that diversity, we have made inclusion in our workplace one of the highest priorities. We value differing points of view and encourage our professionals to share their view of the world from their own unique lens.
