We are an active member of the 'Business in the Community Ireland' organisation and recognise that we have a responsibility to our people, our environment and the communities around us. We support a number of charitable and community activities, for example the PwC People Giving Scheme, which allows our people to make monthly contributions to a selected number of charities.
Many of our people offer their time and skills in the following ways:
- Aids Partnership Africa
Aids Partnership with Africa (APA) is a charity focused on those affected by AIDS in Africa. APA aims to promote a broad-spectrum response to AIDS, integrating prevention and care as top priorities. The firm supports this charity.
- Barretstown Gang Camp
This is a specialised support programme for children diagnosed with cancer and other serious illnesses, which focuses on the idea of Therapeutic Recreation. The firm has sponsored the building of a wooden gangway at the camp and audits the accounts for the charity on a pro bono basis.
- Bus tickets for charity
We provide collection boxes on each floor at Spencer Dock where our people can place used bus tickets with change outstanding. The money owed on these tickets is then claimed back from Dublin Bus and donated to charity.
- Annual PwC Half Marathon
As part of the Eurofirm calendar, a half-marathon event is organised in a different European location each year. The event was held in San Sebastian, Northern Spain in 2006 and in Marseille in 2007. Some 50 people took part and all proceeds raised were in aid of St Vincent de Paul.
- Chernobyl Orphanage Development Programme
This registered charity helps to renovate orphanages in Eastern Belarus. With the help of Irish volunteers and business, it has helped improve the living conditions of over 3,000 children since it was founded 7 years ago. Each year the charity organises trips to Belarus and PwC hosts information evenings in the office for those who wish to get involved.
- Junior Achievement
These educational programmes introduce business related topics to students aged five to 15. As a firm, we support our people to take time out of their working day over a period of six to twelve weeks, to share their knowledge and experience with these students and help them appreciate the value of work and enterprise.
- The Life Centre
The Life Centre caters for children aged from 12 to16 years who have dropped out of school, been expelled or struggled to cope with mainstream education. Under a scheme organised by the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, PwC people give their time to the centre to conduct self awareness sessions and assist the pupils in CV and interview preparation.
- Sponsor your charity
As a firm, we offer sponsorship of €250 to any PwC person who participates in a charity or fundraising event. Some of the more recent causes to benefit include:
- Cystic Fibrosis Ireland
- Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin
- The Alzheimer's Association of Ireland
- Temple Street Children's Hospital
- National Council for the Blind
- Irish Cancer Society

- People Giving Scheme
We have developed a scheme which allows our people to make tax-free monthly contributions through payroll deductions, to a selected number of charities. This scheme is known as the PwC People Giving Scheme.
