2007 edition: Survey of 2006 results
The annual Global Forest, Paper & Packaging Industry Survey, now in its 10th year, tracks the financial performance of the PwC Top 100, the world's largest forest, paper, and paper-based packaging companies. It looks at the aggregate industry numbers and provide a regional analysis, focusing on metrics such as sales, net earnings, Return on Capital Employed (ROCE) and the rate at which capital is reinvested.
In 2006, the global sector was heavily impacted by the prolonged depreciation of the US dollar against major world currencies, continuing oversupply in the marketplace, the continued rise of the emerging markets, increasing energy, transportation and raw materials costs.
